All About Cats

All About Cats was our After School Discovery Program yesterday at the Pember Library and Museum. Children enjoyed a slideshow on Wild Cats of the World. Most children are only familiar with the lion, tiger, leopard and cheetah. The slide presentation showed them that there are many wild cats from small to large. Following the show was a group quiz session and then we ventured around the museum discovering the felines in Pember’s collection. Animal specimens were presented for touching and not just the common Bobcat. There was a Canada Lynx pelt, North Chinese Leopard pelt and skull, Tiger skull and Snow Leopard skull. The Bobcat pelt is part of the museum’s educational collection. The Lynx pelt belongs to Miss Bernie while the endangered species were on loan.

I was going to change the time back to 3:30pm but talked it over with a few attendees and we are leaving it at 4:00pm. Sorry for the confusion if you have already read this once.

Our NEXT Discovery Program is Wednesday, February 26 from 4:00-5:00pm on The African Wild. Discover some cool animals around the museum and Henry Hedgehog will be visiting.
