African Discoveries

The African Wild program yesterday at the Pember Museum was adventurous! There was a great selection of discovery items like Zebra, Blue Wildebeest, Springbok, Camel, Aoudad, and Crested Porcupine. Joining the adventure was Henry, an African Pygmy Hedgehog who is 2-1/2 years old. The children were thrilled to learn about the hedgehog. Everyone got to take home a hedgehog quill as Henry will shed them from time to time. African animals coloring pages were also handed out. One 5 year old participant asked “Why are you teaching us stuff we already know?” I, Miss Bernie, just about fell out of my seat because who knew these young children were so knowledgeable when it came to animals? “Engage and Enrich” is what The Pember is all about and I believe these children enrich my life too!
