Passenger Pigeon Exhibit

September 1, 2014 marks the 100th anniversary of the passing of the world’s last Passenger Pigeon, Martha. Our exhibit has been in place since May but we’ve just added some large museum panels which were donated by Gisele Zeitler. A male and female Passenger Pigeon with eggs sit in a white display case. The poster inside is done by artist Owen Gromme and courtesy of Bud Gussel of Holiday Wholesale located in Wisconsin Dells, WI. There is an abundance of information out there on this species and one only needs to “Google” it. However, the Pember Museum actually has taxidermy mounts and eggs of this forgotten species. Perhaps only 1500 skins and mounts exist worldwide. The museum has free admission. We operate on generous donations by our patrons and grants from various foundations. Please come out and support this premier natural history museum and learn about a species that once darkened the sky for days.

Here’s a few photos.
