Fascination with Geodes

There were five participants for our after-school Geodes & Crystals program on Wednesday, April 6th. We learned so much about geodes on how they are formed and what they look like. Miss Bernie brought a beautiful huge amethyst geode slice from home with a couple smaller ones. The Museum has lots of rocks and minerals to view. After our educational portion of the program, we cracked open some geodes. The kit said children were able to do this activity but Miss Bernie had a heck of a time cracking them open. Luckily five were opened to reveal beautiful crystals and photos were forgotten to be taken. The two tough ones took super powers but only one could be cracked which revealed a solid bed of crystals. One is probably iron!
